When young people are connected, empowered, and thriving, they have the potential to reshape Aotearoa’s funding system for the better.
Our events and opportunities help young people build skills and experience, connect with others, grow their leadership, and shift the way organisations see youth voice.
Our in-person gatherings are a chance for under-35s working in and around philanthropy to share stories, swap challenges and wins, and build connections over kai.
Our connection calls are casual online gatherings for under-35s working in or around philanthropy. Each session features a special guest and is a chance to connect with like-minded peers, share ideas, and soak up fresh inspiration from the field.

Our annual retreat is a chance for young people across the sector to come together to connect, rest, reset, kōrero, and develop personally and professionally. Our 2025 retreat in Auckland was themed around 'Rooted & Rising', as a way to celebrate who we are, where we’ve come from, and where we’re heading, individually and collectively.
Our podcast, The Price of Purpose, features honest, thought-provoking kōrero exploring the past, present, and future of giving in Aotearoa.
Find it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Beyond our regular activities and offerings, we stay responsive. We love to create - and to show up in spaces others are creating - where young people can connect, lead, be heard, and shape the sector. Recently, this has looked like:
Supporting two YIP members to attend the NEXUS Summit for emerging leaders.
Hosting one-on-one coffees for newcomers to philanthropy, supporting entry into the sector and fostering early connections.
Attending Philanthropy New Zealand's conference.
Organising It’s Giving: Youth Funding Symposium - a sector-first one-day event for 80 rangatahi, funders, and decision-makers to explore what impactful, youth-centred funding can look like.
Creating opportunities for our members to grow their skills by contributing to our projects - e.g. podcast production and symposium co-design.
